NIST finalises framework for tracing goods across supply chains

NIST’s National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence has released the final version of its manufacturing supply-chain traceability framework, published as Internal Report 8536.

The framework is designed to help organisations securely exchange and verify traceability information without abandoning the standards already used in their industries. NIST positions it as an interoperable approach to understanding products’ origins and movement.

A Python reference implementation was still in final review when the September 9 announcement was published. NIST said the associated repository would become public after approval, and scheduled a project webinar for September 29 at 1 p.m. Eastern.
